Diane Carlson Passes

 Diane Carlson, Former Staff at KIS from 1978-1981, died on 04 September 2014 at their home in Waconia, MN, at age 72.  While at KIS, Diane was dormparent in Sherwood.    Diane Lea (Sands) Carlson was born on August 21, 1942 in St. Paul the daughter of Maurice H. and Evelyn A. (Swenson) Sands. She was baptized as an infant. Diane was confirmed in the faith at the lutheran church in Alvarado and graduated from the Alvarado High School. On June 16, 1962 Diane was united in marriage with her high school sweetheart Daniel L. Carlson at the Warren Covenant Church in Warren. The couple remained in love throughout their 52 years of married life.

Diane was a life-long follower of Jesus Christ, a gentle witness of His love. She was active in many church activities. Diane was a dorm mother at a Christian international school in South India for three years and was loved as a caring and concerned “substitute mom” for 30+ boys each year. After returning to the United States, she was a tutor for many ESL (English as a second language) students and other students in the Waconia schools. She was an active, loving grandmother who loved hosting birthday parties and other family events.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Evelyn Sands, brother Don Sands.
Diane is survived by her loving family: husband Daniel Carlson of Waconia; sons and daughters-in-law David and Jayne Carlson of Lester Prairie, Brian and Kristin Carlson of Marblehead, MA, Allen and Kyrsten Carlson of Hamburg; grandchildren Kristy (Michael) Wiechmann, Andrew Carlson, Katie Carlson, Amy Carlson, Haley Carlson, Henrik Carlson, Melissa Carlson, Matthew Carlson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Arlyn Sands, Rosalie Carlson, Philip and Sharon Carlson, Ruth and Don Goodrich, Rachel Romfo, Gordon and Paula Carlson, Mark and Kathryn Carlson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
