Lawrence “Larry” Wyneken - Class of 1949

Lawrence “Larry” Wyneken from the KIS class of 1949 passed away on July 28, 2018, at the age of 85.  He is the second child of missionary Rev. Martin III and Mrs. Paula (Mieger) Wyneken (MELIM 1928-1954, Trivandrum District).  He graduated from Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St Louis in 1956.

In Larry's Eucy write-up, it was written: 'California sunshine is probably the main reason for Larry's athletic ability.  He excels in Basketball and soccer and is a dangerous foe in tennis especially doubles.  Among other things Larry is an excellent pianist and shines at intervals in American history.  He is one of our prize Latin students and even seems to enjoy that.'

Larry is survived by his wife, Marlene (Stevens) Wyneken; four children, Rebecca, Daniel, Brenda, & Steven; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

His surviving family members include:  brothers Martin ‘47, Alan ‘54, Kenneth, and sister Janet.  His brother Gerald ‘51 died in 2012.
