The Oldest KIS Alumni Passes at age 105

Dorothy May (Lipp)  Steele, age 105 went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2014. Dorothy Steele was born in Bangalore, India July 8, 1908 to Mr. & Mrs. Charles F. Lipp who served as Methodist missionaries in India for 40 years.  She had two younger sisters, Margaret Francke of Oak Ridge TN and Ruth Shearin of Cincinnati OH, both of who have previous passed. She went to Boarding school at Kodai School in south India between 1915 to 1927 and later attended Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, OH, where she met her husband  Russell D. Steele.  They were married in 1932 and moved to the Panama Canal Zone where Russell was a Medical Doctor until 1945.  There they had 4 children, James, Janice, Margaret, & Charles.  The Steele family joined Russell when he was assigned to the Army hospital in Tokyo, Japan, for 18 months following service in Korea.  The family lived in Falls Church, VA for 4 years then moved to Cincinnati, OH where they lived for 30 years. Dorothy has lived in Claremont, CA and recently in S.E., MI. with her son Charles.  She is survived by her 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 30 great grand children and 4 great-great grandchildren.  

 A memorial service will be held at the Ward Presbyterian Church, 5 Mile Rd. in Northville, MI.  Date and time are pending at this time.
