Jim Fassett-Carman (Class of ’78) passes away

Jim Fassett-Carman, a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, in-law, and friend, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep Thursday, July 25. He is survived by his wife, Karen, his children, Jamie, Aly, and Robin, his parents, Robert and Lucille Carman, his brother and sister, Chuck Carman and Betsy Perkins, and his beloved dog, Martin. He was preceded in death by his brother Paul Carman.

A Twin Cities resident for 35 years, Jim was born in Rochester New York, attended Kodaikanal International School in India, and graduated from Macalester College with a degree in Anthropology. Jim was happiest when he was helping others: he worked as an organizer for several nonprofits, as a teacher, and as a stay at home dad who cared for the kids, chickens, dog, and cat.

Jim found joy in the everyday experiences of life, and was truly engaged in the moment- everything he did was done with all his heart. Jim cared about peace, nature, and everyone he knew; he was a warm, positive presence in so many people's lives and will be loved and remembered forever.

A ceremony will be held Thursday, August 1 at 9:00am at the Lyndale Peace Gardens.
