Ruth Manley Rowland Passes Away

I have just received notice of the death of Ruth Manley Rowland, who was a Kodai School graduate back in 1939. She was usually known by the nickname of Chellie Manley. She was born on October 21, 1921, the youngest of three children born to Dr. Charles and Ruth Bass Manley, who were serving as missionaries under the American Baptist mission in the old Hyderabad State, in Hanamkonda, (now in Telengana part of Andhra Pradesh).

Betty Mae Cecil Passes Away

In Minneapolis, in the year 1921, Betty Mae Cecil was born to George Cecil and Helen Hanson. In her early childhood, the family moved around a lot—living in Cincinnati, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Chicago. When Betty was 9 years old, her father passed away, leaving Helen to provide and care for Betty’s brothers Walt and Jim, and younger sister, Helen.
